About Book
The First Settlers is a gripping sci-fi psychological thriller that follows two astronauts, Vladimir Vane and Ivy Mercer, on a mission to become humanity’s first colonizers of Mars. Selected for the Genesis 9 mission, they travel aboard an advanced spacecraft designed to carry the last hope of human expansion beyond Earth. After awakening from cryosleep, their journey quickly spirals into chaos when their ship is damaged and crash-lands on Mars. Stranded, isolated, and with most of their crew mysteriously missing, Vladimir and Ivy must fight not only for survival but also for their sanity.
As they explore the barren Martian landscape, strange and disturbing events begin to unfold. Unexplained transmissions, ghostly voices, and eerie visions blur the line between reality and illusion. Mars feels alive in a way it should not be. It begins to mirror their deepest fears, traumas, and unresolved pasts.
The story alternates between the present mission and the characters’ troubled histories on Earth. Vladimir’s dark childhood, filled with abuse and emotional damage, shapes his fractured mindset, while Ivy’s complicated relationship with her brother reveals themes of guilt, dependency, and regret. As their psychological states deteriorate, the planet seems to feed on their memories, twisting them into terrifying manifestations. What begins as a mission of hope turns into a descent into paranoia, trauma, and something far more sinister lurking beneath the surface of Mars.
